BUNGO TARO 25 Barley Spirit
Oita's barley Japanese shochu with water from the Banjo River, one of the clearest streams in Kyushu. One of Bungo Meijyo’s main product lines that has won the Kumamoto Regional Taxation Bureau's Excellence Award 30 times.
The company was founded in 1910 as Kariu Sake Brewery in Honjo, Saiki City. Oita Prefecture was originally a region where sake production flourished, but the shochu boom in the 1950s shifted the company’s main product from sake to shochu. This led to their launch of Bungo Taro, which later became its most iconic product. It has a clear, soft taste and is easy to drink. It has received high praise, winning the excellence award in the shochu category at the Kumamoto Regional Taxation Bureau's Sake and Shochu Awards for more than ten years.
